در خزان عدل پیشه سلطانی
گذر افکند بر دهستانی

بود از گونه گونه رنگ رزان
غیرت کارگاه رنگرزان

دید یک جا که کرده از دیوار
سر برون شاخی از درخت انار

حقه های عقیق تازه و تر
بر وی آویخته ز شوشه زر

در دل خویشتن شمرد آن را
به امین خرد سپرد آن را

او همی رفت و لشکر انبوه
می رسیدش ز پی گروه گروه

روز دیگر که بازگشت از راه
در همان شاخسار کرد نگاه

دید بر وی انارها بر جای
آمد از زین فرو به شکر خدای

سر به سجده نهاد تا دیری
شکرگوی ایستاد تا دیری

کای خداوند عدل عدل آموز
در جهان آفتاب عدل افروز

تخم عدلم به دل تو کاشته ای
سپهم را بر آن تو داشته ای

ور نه از ما گروه بس گستاخ
دیر ماند این انارها بر شاخ

English translation

In autumn, a justice-seeking sultan Passed by a countryside village. It was, because of the various colors of autumn, The envy of a dyer's workshop. He saw in one place, from a wall, A branch of a pomegranate tree had raised its head. Fresh and moist caskets of carnelian Hung upon it from gold branches. In his heart, he took note of it, And entrusted it to the trustee of intellect. He went on, and his massive army Followed him group after group. The next day, when he returned along the path, He looked again at that same branch. He saw the pomegranates still in their place; He dismounted from his saddle in thanks to God. He put his head in prostration for a long time, And stood giving thanks for a long time, Saying: 'O Lord of justice, teacher of justice, Sun-kindler of justice in the world! You have planted the seed of justice in my heart, And You have guided my army to abide by it. Otherwise, with our highly audacious band, How could these pomegranates have remained long on the branch?'
