Section 63 - The Tale of the Sage's Question and Answer as to Who is Legitimately Born and What is the Sign of It

Original content

English translation

A disciple asked a sage, 'O wise guide, who is a legitimately born child?' He replied, 'He who in the end becomes similar To his father, whether he be wise or foolish. Even if for a few days he remains not with his father, In the end he will join himself with his father. Otherwise, his state bears witness to this truth: Sever your hands from him, for he is a child of adultery. That weed which has grown from the green wheat, And has adorned itself like green wheat— Although it resembles it at the beginning of the affair, When the harvest time arrives in the field, Its grain declares that it is not wheat, And the description and name of wheat are lost from it.'
