سبحة الابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (Fourth Masnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang)

Subhat al-Abrar (سبحة الابرار, 'The Rosary of the Pious')

Subhat al-Abrar is the fourth masnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang. Unlike the narrative romances in the collection, it is a didactic-mystical poem organized around forty 'iqd (the beads of a rosary), each pairing an ethical or Sufi discourse with illustrative anecdotes and punctuated by numbered munajat (supplications).

The supplications trace a progression of spiritual stations (maqamat) — repentance, trust, contentment, love, yearning, zeal — so the individual بخش / Section poems (for example the supplications on companionship, love, and yearning) belong to this work rather than to Haft Awrang as a whole. Subhat al-Abrar is therefore the immediate literary container that sits between the seven-part Haft Awrang collection and each of its numbered sections.
