سبحة الابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (Rosary of the Pious) — the fourth masnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang

Subhat al-Abrar (Rosary of the Pious)

Subhat al-Abrar is the fourth of the seven masnavis that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It is a didactic Sufi poem structured as a rosary of forty knots (عقد), each pairing an ethical or spiritual theme with an illustrative anecdote and a concluding supplication (مناجات). Taken in order, these munajat sections trace the wayfarer's ascent through the Sufi stations — trust (توکل), contentment (رضا), love (محبت), generosity (جود), contentment/frugality (قناعت), humility (تواضع), and forbearance (حلم) — so that each station builds on the one before it. Understanding this work as a distinct book is a prerequisite for reading any single section (بخش, such as Section 63 on rida and mahabbat) in its proper place within the sequence.
