سبحةالابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (Rosary of the Pious)

Subhat al-Abrar (سبحةالابرار)

The fourth mathnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang (the Seven Thrones), titled the Rosary of the Pious. Modeled in part on Nizami's Makhzan al-Asrar, it is a didactic Sufi poem organized as a string of عقد (knots or beads of a rosary), each pairing moral discourse with an illustrative tale. Interspersed through the poem is a graded chain of مناجات (intimate supplications) that trace the wayfarer's ascent through successive spiritual stations — freedom, chivalry (فتوت), truthfulness (صدق), sincerity (اخلاص), generosity (جود), contentment (قناعت), humility (تواضع), and beyond. The individual numbered sections (بخش) — including the supplications on transitioning between these stations — are subdivisions of this single mathnavi rather than of the whole Haft Awrang collection.
