Subhat al-Abrar / سبحة الابرار (Rosary of the Pious)

Subhat al-Abrar (سبحة الابرار, the 'Rosary of the Pious') is one of the seven masnavi poems that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It is structured as a string of forty 'knots' (عقد), each a mystical-ethical discourse on a Sufi virtue or station — for example freedom (حریت), chivalry (فتوت / futuwwah), sincerity (اخلاص), and truthfulness (صدق) — usually followed by an illustrative anecdote and a closing supplication (مناجات). The numbered knot-sections, including the Twenty-Fifth Knot on Futuwwah, belong to this individual work rather than directly to the whole Haft Awrang collection.
