سبحةالابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (The Rosary of the Pious) — Jami's Fourth Mathnavi in the Haft Awrang

سبحةالابرار (Subhat al-Abrar, the Rosary of the Pious) is the fourth of the seven mathnavis that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It is a didactic Sufi poem in ramal-e musaddas meter, structured like a string of prayer beads: it is organised into forty 'iqd (knots/necklaces), each pairing a short discourse on an ethical or mystical theme with an illustrative tale (hikayat). Its embedded anecdotes — such as the tale of Zulaykha veiling her golden idol, which shames Joseph into awareness of the all-seeing God — dramatise doctrines of divine presence, sincerity, and detachment. As a distinct work it belongs between the whole Haft Awrang collection and its individual numbered sections (bakhsh), so that each tale is a section of Subhat al-Abrar rather than of the collection as a whole.
