سبحة الابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (The Rosary of the Pious) — the Fourth Masnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang

Subhat al-Abrar (The Rosary of the Pious)

سبحة الابرار (Subhat al-Abrar) is the fourth of the seven masnavi poems that together make up Jami's Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones). Composed in imitation of Nizami's Makhzan al-Asrar, it is structured as a strung rosary of عقد (knots, i.e. the beads of a prayer-rosary): each عقد is an independent chapter devoted to a spiritual station or ethical theme.

The sequence of knots proceeds through stations such as hope (رجا), contentment (رضا), love (محبت), yearning (شوق), zeal (غیرت), proximity (قرب), and sincerity (اخلاص). Each thematic knot is typically paired with a مناجات (supplication) and one or more illustrative tales that dramatize the lesson.

Because the individual sections (بخش) — including the knots on yearning, love, contentment, zeal, proximity, and sincerity — are the beads of this one specific poem, they belong under Subhat al-Abrar as their immediate container, rather than hanging directly from the whole Haft Awrang collection.
