سبحة الابرار / Subhat al-Abrar (The Rosary of the Pious)

Subhat al-Abrar (The Rosary of the Pious)

سبحة الابرار is the fourth of the seven masnavi poems that together make up Jami's Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones). It is a didactic Sufi work whose chapters treat ethical and mystical stations (hope, fear, trust, contentment, humility, chivalry, and the like), and many of its chapters close in a مناجات (supplication) addressed to God.

The numbered مناجات sections — such as Section 57 (Opening the Palm of Pleading and Placing the Foot of Hope in the Arena of Trust), along with Sections 51, 54, 60, 63, 81, 96, 105, and 108 — belong specifically to this work, not to Haft Awrang as an undifferentiated whole. Subhat al-Abrar therefore forms the intermediate literary container between the seven-work collection and its individual sections.
