یوسف و زلیخا / Yusof o Zoleykha (Jami's masnavi within Haft Awrang)

Yusof o Zoleykha

Yusof o Zoleykha is the fifth of the seven masnavis that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. Written in rhyming couplets, it retells the story of Joseph (Yusuf) and Zulaykha as a Sufi allegory in which earthly passion becomes a mirror for the soul's love of divine Beauty.

The work unfolds across numbered sections (بخش) that trace Zulaykha's prophetic dream, her journey to Egypt, her disappointment at the Aziz, her consuming love for Joseph, his imprisonment, the long torment of separation, and their eventual reunion. Every individual section (for example, the accounts of Zulaykha after the Aziz's death and her affliction of separation) is a part of this single poem, which in turn belongs to the Haft Awrang collection.

Placing this work-level node between the Haft Awrang collection and its many sections preserves the structural path Collection -> Work -> Section rather than attaching each section directly to the whole collection.
