یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaikha (Fifth Masnavi of Haft Awrang)

یوسف و زلیخا (Yusuf and Zulaikha) is the fifth of the seven masnavi poems that constitute Jami's Haft Awrang. It is a mystical narrative poem that retells the love story of Yusuf (Joseph) and Zulaikha, drawn from the Quranic account and its interpretive tradition, and reads the tale as an allegory of the soul's longing for divine Beauty. Framing the central narrative are prefatory and digressive sections of counsel — including the poet's admonitions to his own son on acquiring perfections and shunning ignorance — which belong to this work rather than to the collection as a whole. As one of the seven distinct masnavis, it forms the intermediate structural level between the Haft Awrang collection and its numbered sections (بخش‌ها).
