یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaykha (Jami)

Yusuf and Zulaykha

یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaykha is one of the seven masnavi poems that together make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It retells the Quranic and Biblical story of the prophet Joseph and of Zulaykha as a mystical love allegory, tracing Joseph's childhood dream of the sun, moon, and eleven stars, his brothers' envy, his casting into the well and sale into Egypt, Zulaykha's consuming love, and their eventual union.

The poem is organized into numbered sections (بخش), each narrating one episode of the story. These individual sections are the section-level nodes; this node is the poem-level container that groups them and sits between the Haft Awrang collection and its constituent episodes.
