یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaykha (Jami's Masnavi)

Yusuf and Zulaykha

یوسف و زلیخا (Yusuf and Zulaykha) is the fifth of the seven narrative masnavi poems that together form Jami's Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones). Completed in the late 15th century, it retells the story of the prophet Joseph (Yusuf) and Zulaykha, wife of the Aziz of Egypt, drawn from the Quranic and Biblical accounts and reworked as a Sufi allegory of the soul's ascent from earthly passion to purified divine love.

The poem is organized into numbered sections (بخش), each narrating one episode of the tale — Joseph's arrival in Egypt, Zulaykha's love and stratagems, the imprisonment, the king's dream and its interpretation, Joseph's rise to power, and Zulaykha's eventual repentance and reunion. These per-section poem nodes are the parts of this single work and should be organized under it rather than attached directly to the whole Haft Awrang collection.
