یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaykha (Jami's Masnavi)

یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf and Zulaykha

The fifth masnavi in Jami's Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones), retelling the story of the prophet Joseph (Yusuf) and Zulaykha, wife of the Aziz of Egypt. Jami reworks the Quranic tale as a Sufi allegory in which Zulaykha's consuming passion for Joseph's outward beauty is gradually purified into love for the divine Beauty that Joseph only reflects. Its numbered sections (بخش) narrate the full arc: Zulaykha's first dream-vision of Joseph, the years of separation and temptation, her blindness and aging, and her final restoration and union. This work is the immediate literary container for those individual sections, which should be read as its chapters rather than as direct parts of the whole Haft Awrang collection.
