Yusuf o Zulaykha

Yusuf o Zulaykha is a long narrative masnavi by the fifteenth-century poet Nur al-Din Abd al-Rahman Jami, forming the fifth of the seven poems gathered in his Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones). Composed in the mystical-romance tradition, it retells the Quranic and folk story of the prophet Joseph (Yusuf) and his Egyptian lover Zulaykha, reading their love as an allegory of the soul's longing for divine Beauty.

The poem unfolds across many numbered sections (بخش), each dramatizing an episode of the tale — Zulaykha's dreams of Joseph, her passion and separation, his imprisonment and rise in Egypt, their eventual union, and the deaths that close the narrative. These individual sections are the learnable units beneath this work, while this node situates them within the single masnavi to which they belong, distinct from the broader Haft Awrang collection.
