یوسف و زلیخا / Yusuf va Zulaykha (Jami's narrative poem)

Yusuf va Zulaykha

یوسف و زلیخا (Yusuf va Zulaykha) is the fifth of the seven masnavis that together make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It is a book-length narrative poem in rhyming couplets that retells the Qur'anic and Biblical story of Joseph (Yusuf) and Zulaykha, the wife of Egypt's dignitary, and reworks it into a Sufi allegory of the soul's longing for divine Beauty.

The poem unfolds as an ordered sequence of numbered sections (بخش) — from Zulaykha's first dream-vision of Joseph, through her marriage, her attempts at union, Joseph's steadfast chastity, the episode of the women of Egypt cutting their hands, Joseph's imprisonment, and the couple's eventual reunion and Zulaykha's spiritual transformation. Each numbered بخش is a self-contained episode that belongs to this single larger work.

This node is the structural container for those sections: it sits between the Haft Awrang collection and the individual section poems (for example Section 55, Section 56, Section 57, Section 58)...
