بخش ۱۴۸ - اشارة الی بعض بطون قوله تعالی و جنة عرضها السموات و الارض / Section 148 - Allusion to Some Inner Meanings of the Saying of the Exalted: 'and a garden whose width is the heavens and the earth'

Original content

English translation

The origin of the gardens is the Garden of the Essence, Its width is the earth and the heavens. What is the earth? The realities of the archetypes, Established in the abode of possibility. What is heaven? The attributes or names, By whose command all things are affected. All the archetypes along with their attributes, Were integrated in the first level of the Essence. Pure unity and absolute existence, All of these were enfolded within It. There was no distinction and no difference, No agreement and no alliance. When He displayed His Essence to Himself, His display became this heaven and this earth. He both entered the garment of the names, And emerged in the form of things. Yet this was in His knowledge, not in external reality, Both realms were integrated in His knowledge. Once again, when He began to display, He fashioned another earth and heaven. The earth became the physical realm and the heaven the spiritual realm, Both under the dominion of the divine power. Perhaps just as in the first instance, in the second, His display was the very essence of heaven and earth. Whatever was hidden in the unseen of the Essence, Became manifest and visible in the witnessed world. That which possessed abstraction and active influence, Became manifest as the heaven and the ether. A heaven, yet spiritual, Neither material nor corporeal. And that which was opposite to spirits, Became the earth of bodies and shadowy forms. That earth consists of layers, and from it, Are the layers of the world's heavens. For the Truth's Essence, which is the very nature of Paradise, This is its width: the earth and the heaven. When it became manifest from the unseen of holy eternity, His display became these two, neither more nor less.
