English translation

Whosoever's eye is not seeing by the Truth, His eye is not worthy of the vision of the Truth. Until, by the decree of 'by Me he sees,' Your eye becomes a gazer upon the essence of the Truth, It is not possible to behold the beauty of the Truth, Or to pluck a rose from the garden of witnessing the Truth. When you set in motion caravans of supererogatory deeds (nāfilah) Toward the land of acceptance, Over your faculties, unity and absolute transcendence Will dominate, in accordance with your merit. Your eye, ear, and tongue, each one, Will undoubtedly become the very essence of the existence of the Truth. The attribute of contingency (possibility) becomes vanquished in him, And you will find him colored with the hue of necessity. Action and perception in all states Will be attributed to you, while the Truth is the instrument. Among the noble Sufis, this state of yours Will be called 'approached through supererogatory acts' (Qurb-e Nawāfil). But if you attain that station Where you are the instrument and the Truth is the Agent, Anyone who knows the path of those drawn nigh Will call you of the people of 'proximity of obligatory acts' (Qurb-e Farā'id). And if you join these two proximities together, You will be integrated, the unique one of the world. The treasure of both proximities will be your achievement, And 'two bows' length' (Qāb-e Qawsayn) will be your abode. And if, with elevated aspiration, you soar a little higher, So that you are not bound even by union, You will traverse these three stations Without being bound by the constraint of any of them. You will step from the high toward the highest, Exalted to the summit of 'or even closer' (Aw Adnā). This is the station of the Prophet, and those who are strong In the prophetic inheritance. How wonderful is the gnostic who has escaped from himself, And joined the stations of proximity! Freed absolutely from the bond of self, His essence and attributes have all become the Truth. Whoever's gaze falls upon water and clay (the material body), His conception of himself remains human. But when the divine secret is unveiled, The voice of the Exalted Lord rings out from him. He says, 'If indeed I am a servant, where is the Truth? And if I am the Truth, what is this running and striving of mine?' From his bewilderment, a knot is tied in his affair, Just like the cat-weighing cat of the master of the village.
