Original content

English translation

Since I cannot sit in silence, at least let me speak of silence. Since speech is not for God and with God, it is not the way of the aware gnostics. Speak with God or for the sake of God, otherwise close your lips and do not utter nonsense. The heart of the free is a treasure of secrets; what is the way to that treasure? It is speech. Whoever opened this path to the treasure needlessly threw the ready cash of the treasure to the wind. As long as the tongue is not worn out by speech, its entire capital without speech is profit. When a point of speech is added to it, it becomes a loss, even though it was entirely profit. Silence is of two kinds, if you know: manifest silence and hidden silence. The first kind is the silence of the tongue, which is that you bind your tongue from your companions. And the other is the silence of the heart, which is that the wicked self does not whisper within the inner being. Whoever has silent lips and a speaking heart is seeking the lightness of their burden of sin. Even though the self-talk of the soul led him astray, the angel writes fewer sins for him. And the one who settled on the opposite of this speaks not except with wisdom. He does not speak except in accordance with truth, whatever he says is correct and right. Whoever has both tongue and heart silent is a mine of wisdom and a treasury of intelligence. His soul, in the manifestations of the Eternal, has found everlasting steadfastness. He speaks with God and hears from God, and is not separated from God for a single breath. Whoever is deprived of these two types of silence is a plaything of the command of the lower self and Satan. His speech is deviated from the direction of rectitude, and his action is described by the trait of corruption. He does not walk except on the path of error and mistake, and does not knock except on the door of trial and wrath. When he gives thought a place in his heart, has thoughts that are nothing but falsehood. And if he gives his tongue radiance through speech, it will be entirely slander and lies. He has become the leader of the people of abandonment, and has become the deputy of Satan. Rather, his actions have surpassed those of Satan, leaving Satan bewildered by his work.
