تولا خرازیان به ابی سعید خراز رضی الله عنه کنند و وی را اندر طریقت تصانیف از هراست و اندر تجرید و انقطاع شأنی عظیم داشت و ابتدای عبارات از حال فنا و بقا او کرد و طریقت خود را جمله اندر این دو عبارت مضمر گردانید. اکنون من معنی آن بگویم و غلط های گروهی اندر آن بیارم تا بدانی که مذهب وی چیست و مقصود این طایفه از این دو عبارت متداول چیست.

English translation

The Kharrazis give their allegiance to Abu Sa'id al-Kharraz, may Allah be pleased with him. In the [mystical] path he has many compositions, and in detachment (tajrid) and separation (inqita') he held a great rank. He was the first to formulate expressions concerning the states of annihilation (fana) and subsistence (baqa), and he enfolded his entire path within these two expressions. Now I shall explain their meaning and set forth the errors of a certain group concerning them, so that you may know what his doctrine is and what this order intends by these two commonly-used expressions.
