بخش ۳۲ - گفتار در ختم دفتر اول از کتاب سلسلة الذهب و حواله آنچه تقریب سخن به آن رسیده بود به دفتر دیگر / Section 32 - Discourse on Ending the First Book of the Silsilat al-Dhahab (The Chain of Gold) and Referring What Was Approached in the Discourse to Another Book

Original content

English translation

When this book of creed became completed and sound, I shall return to my original work and task. My work is love, and my burden is love; The harvest of my lifetime is love. The thread had pulled towards love, The heart and soul had found rest in love. Let me return to my thread once more, And begin the discourse of love. May that thread never suffer any flaw, And may its lead guide me until resurrection. That chain is not a simple thread of gold; To call it a thread is not of proper courtesy. Chains of gold are meant for lions, And whoever is a lion does not turn away from them. This chained discourse that you read Is also of that same chain, as you should know. Unless the discourse of love boils from the breast, One cannot explain the ancient love. My love is boiling from my chest, So that I may explain the ancient love. But the fear of the weariness of the tasteless, Who have no yearning for its explanation, Blocks the path of the expression of yearning, And places the seal of silence on the mouth. Thus, it is better for me to close my lips, And not desire more talk than this. If divine grace becomes my helper, So that I may thoroughly investigate the lesson of love, I shall compile a new book for it, And compose another tale. And if the steed of life stops its journey, May God seal my end with what is best.
