Original content

English translation

The heart is the master administrator, The body is placed in its hand as a tool of work. Its work is for the comfort of both worlds: Helping creation and worshipping God. For the master's occupation in any condition, The soundness of the tool is a prerequisite. First, the tool must be sound, So that deeds may come out sound from it. Until the scribe's hand first sharpens the pen With the pocket-knife of planning, His pen will not write according to his heart's desire, And his writing will not seem beautiful to anyone's eye. Until the pocket-knife is made clean of bluntness and roughness By the blacksmith's craft, How can the pen be sharpened, To write upon the ledger with it? Likewise, the body which is the tool of your heart, The works of your heart are made sound through it. It needs a meticulous guardian, To protect it from the afflictions of time. To initiate the preservation of health with strength, And bring back lost health. If a disturbance falls upon your temperament, And it deviates, falling away from balance, Through the aid of knowledge and practice, Its deviation turns back into balance. Who is this guardian? The wise physician, Who has set foot on the path of acquiring wisdom, Who has borne the hardship of study in science, And completed it through experience and testing. A blessed, compassionate, and benevolent person, No soul having ever suffered harm from him. Witty and smiling with everyone, Kind and of good character to all. No wrinkle in his brow from hardheartedness, No frown on his forehead from narrow-mindedness. His very countenance is a healing for the sick, His laughter a comfort to those who suffer. Awaiting the meeting with God, Seeking the pleasure of the Lord of Paradise. His hand, in secondary causes, is like those behind the veil, While his heart is with the Cause of Causes.
