وزرارة بن ابی أوفی از کبار صحابه بود رضی الله عنهم مردمان را می امامی کرد؛ آیتی برخواند و زعقه ای بزد و جان بداد.
و ابوجهیر از بزرگان تابعین بود، صالح مری آیتی برخواند، شهقه ای از وی جدا شد و از دنیا برفت.

و ابراهیم النخعی رحمة الله علیه روایت آرد که: اندر دیهی از دیه های کوفه می رفتم. پیرزنی رادیدم که اندر نماز استاده بود، آثار خیری بر وی ظاهر بود تا از نماز فارغ شد، من به حکم تبرکی پیش وی رفتم و سلام گفتم. مرا گفت: «قرآن دانی؟» گفتم: «بلی.» گفت: «آیتی برخوان.» بانگی بکرد و جان به استقبال رؤیت حق فرستاد.
و احمدبن ابی الحواری روایت آرد که: اندر بادیه جوانی دیدم اندر مرقعه ای خشن بر سر چاهی استاده. مرا گفت: «یا احمد، بوقت آمدی که مرا می سماع باید تا جان بدهم. آیتی برخوان.» حق تعالی به زبان من داد: «إن الذین قالوا ربنا الله ثم استقاموا (۱۳/الأحقاف).» گفت: «یا احمد، به خدای کعبه که همان که برخواندی اندر این ساعت فریشته ای بر من می خواند.»

English translation

And Zurara ibn Abi Awfa was among the great Companions (may God be pleased with them). He was leading the people in prayer as their imam; he recited a verse, uttered a cry, and gave up his soul.

And Abu Juhayr was among the eminent Followers (Tabi'un); Salih al-Murri recited a verse, a shriek burst forth from him, and he departed from this world.

And Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may God's mercy be upon him) relates: I was passing through one of the villages of Kufa. I saw an old woman standing in prayer, and signs of goodness were evident upon her. When she had finished her prayer, seeking a blessing I went up to her and gave the greeting. She said to me: 'Do you know the Quran?' I said: 'Yes.' She said: 'Recite a verse.' I recited, and she gave a cry and sent forth her soul to meet the vision of the Truth.

And Ahmad ibn Abi al-Hawari relates: In the desert I saw a young man standing at the head of a well in a coarse patched cloak. He said to me: 'O Ahmad, you have come at the right moment, for I am in need of spiritual audition (sama') so that I may give up my soul. Recite a verse.' God Most High set upon my tongue: 'Indeed, those who say: Our Lord is God, and then remain steadfast (13/al-Ahqaf).' He said: 'O Ahmad, by the Lord of the Kaaba, the very verse that you recited, at this very moment an angel is reciting to me.'
