معتمر گفت آن منم اینک
هر چه خواهی ضمان منم اینک

خواست چندان زر تمام عیار
که مثاقیل آن رسد به هزار

بعد ازان نیز ده هزار درم
سیم خالص نه بیش ازان و نه کم

جامگی صد ز بردهای یمن
صد دیگر ازان فزون به ثمن

نافه ها مشک و طبله ها عنبر
عقدهای مرصع از گوهر

معتمر گفت تا سه چار نفر
زود کردند بر مدینه گذر

هر چه جستند حاضر آوردند
مجلس عقد منعقد کردند

عقد بستند آن دو مفتون را
شاد کردند آن دو محزون را

دو اسیر کمند یکدیگر
چشم بد را سپند یکدیگر

رخ به رخ شادمان شدند از هم
لب به لب کامران شدند از هم

این شد آن را به بوسه مرهم داغ
آن شد این را به خنده غنچه باغ

تنگ با هم چو غنچه شب خفتند
همچو گل صبحگاه بشکفتند

تافته روی شغل از همه کار
شغلشان بوسه بود و کار کنار

تا به چل روز کارشان این بود
حاصل روزگارشان این بود

English translation

Mu'tamar said, 'Here I am, Whatever you wish, I am the guarantor of it.' [The father] demanded so much pure gold, That its weight in mithqals reached a thousand. After that, also ten thousand dirhams Of pure silver, neither more nor less. A hundred garments of Yemeni cloaks, And another hundred even more precious in value. Pods of musk and chests of ambergris, And necklaces set with jewels. Mu'tamar instructed three or four people, Who quickly made their way through Medina. Whatever they sought, they brought and presented, And they convened the marriage assembly. They bound the marriage contract of those two infatuated ones, And made those two sorrowful ones joyful. Two captives in each other's lasso, The wild rue against each other's evil eye. Face to face, they became happy with one another, Lip to lip, they achieved their desire with one another. This one became a healing balm for that one's scar with a kiss, That one became a garden bud for this one with a laugh. Tightly together like a bud, they slept at night, Like a rose in the morning, they blossomed. Turning their faces away from all other work, Their business was kissing and their work was embracing. For forty days, this was their occupation, And this was the harvest of their lifetime.
