رب تال یفوه بالقرآن
و هو یفضی به الی الخذلان

خواجه را نیست جز تلاوت کار
لیکن آن طرد و لعنت آرد بار

لعنت است اینکه بهر لهجه و صوت
شود از تو حضور خاطر فوت

فکر حسن غنا برد هوشت
متکلم شود فراموشت

نشود بر دل تو تابنده
کین کلام خداست یابنده

باده نوشی مدام با اوباش
تا شود صاف حلق تو ز خراش

حلق باید ز خلط بلغم پاک
گر بود معده پر حرام چه باک

لعنت است اینکه سازدت پی سیم
روز و شب با امیر و خواجه ندیم

مجلس ناکسان بیارایی
تا بدان یک دو خرده بربایی

خانه شان مزبله ست و قرآن نور
دار این نور را ز مزبله دور

شرم بادت که بهر مزبله ای
سازی از نور قدس مشعله ای

لعنت است اینکه همت تو تمام
گشت مصروف لفظ و حرف کلام

نقد عمرت ز فکرت معوج
خرج شد در رعایت مخرج

صرف کردی همه حیات سره
در قراآت سبعه و عشره

گر شود مدی از ادای تو کم
حرف غم در دلت شود مدغم

فوت کردی سعادت سرمد
غم نخوردی برابر یک مد

همچنین هر چه از کلام خدا
جز خدا قبله دل است تو را

موجب لعن و مایه طرد است
جبذا مقبلی کز آن فرد است

معنی لعن چیست مردودی
به مقامات بعد خوشنودی

هر که ماند از خدا به یک سر مو
آمد اندر مقام بعد فرو

گرچه ملعون نشد ز حق مطلق
هست ملعون به قدر بعد از حق

زانکه اندر مقام یکتایی
نیست مو را مجال گنجایی

English translation

Many a reciter utters the Quran, While it leads him only to abandonment and disgrace. The master has no occupation other than recitation, Yet it yields him nothing but rejection and curse. It is a curse that for the sake of accent and melody, The presence of your heart is lost. The thought of beautiful singing steals your consciousness, And the Speaker is forgotten by you. It does not shine upon your heart, O finder, That this is indeed the Word of God. You constantly drink wine with the ruffians, Just so your throat is cleared of roughness. The throat must be free of phlegm, you say, But if the stomach is filled with the forbidden, what of it? It is a curse that, for the sake of silver, Makes you a companion of the emir and the lord day and night. You adorn the gatherings of the unworthy, In order to snatch a crumb or two of wealth from them. Their house is a garbage heap, and the Quran is Light; Keep this Light far away from the garbage heap! Shame on you that for the sake of a garbage heap, You make a torch out of the Holy Light! It is a curse that your entire effort Is spent only on the pronunciation of words and letters. The cash of your life, through crooked thinking, Was spent entirely on the points of articulation. You spent your whole precious life In the seven and the ten styles of recitation. If an elongation is shortened in your delivery, The letter of sorrow becomes merged into your heart. You lost eternal happiness, Yet you grieved not even as much as a single madd! Likewise, whatever from the Word of God Becomes the direction of your heart other than God, Is a cause of curse and a source of rejection; How blessed is the fortunate one who is free from this! What is the meaning of curse? It is rejection, And being pleased with the stations of distance. Whoever remains apart from God by even a hair's breadth, Has fallen into the station of distance. Though he is not absolutely cursed by the Truth, He is cursed to the extent of his distance from the Truth. For in the station of Oneness, There is no room even for a single hair.
