بخش ۳۹ - مناجات در اشارت به آنکه حقیقت ورع اعراض است از ماسوی الله و طلب تحقیق به مقام زهد / Section 39 - Supplication in Alluding to the Fact That the Reality of Scrupulous Piety Is Turning Away from What Is Other Than God, and Seeking Attainment of the Station of Asceticism

Original content

English translation

O You Who have summoned those who practice scrupulous piety to Yourself, Humbling those who tremble with greed and covetousness, Beholding other than You is forbidden, forbidden, And scrupulous piety (wara') is perfected in abandoning the forbidden. He is not of the people of wara' who remains stranded on the path, Whose eye looks upon other than You. Whoever has become a stranger to other than You— This is wara', and all else is but a fable. Every tree whose fruit is not wara' Has grown from the seed of greed and covetousness. Make Jami fruitful with the fruit of wara', And through its fruit, remove his raw immaturity. Do not eclipse the crescent moon of his fortune, Do not make the taste of that fruit bitter to him. Keep that fruit so sweet for him, That he may perform sweet deeds in both worlds. Diminish from his heart the desire for the world, And by that, make the foundation of his wara' firm. Turn him from worldly wealth toward asceticism (zuhd), So that he may move his belongings to the ultimate abode of asceticism.
