Section 61 - The Tale of Parviz Receiving Retribution from Shiruyeh for What He Did to Farhad

Original content

English translation

The mountain-carver (Farhad), who rivaled Parviz, turned his face toward the tumultuous Shirin. Shirin saw the inclination of his heart toward her, and became inclined toward him by the decree of what you know. The jealousy of love kindled a burning fire, burning down the harvest of Khosrow's composure. He immediately devised a trick, so that the old crone of fate poured poison into the goblet of Farhad. That helpless one departed, his soul full of desire; only Parviz remained with Shirin, and that was all. The vengeance-seeking sphere also established this same custom: it placed the sword of vengeance in the hand of Shiruyeh, So that with a single blow, he separated him from Shirin and cast him far from his throne of pleasure.
