کرد آن زال کهنسال سؤال
از نبی کای شه فرخنده خصال

روز محشر که بهشت آرایند
رستگاران به بهشت آسایند

شود آن منزل عالی وطنان
راحت آباد چو من پیر زنان

گفت حاشا که چنان خوش وطنی
گردد آرامگه پیرزنی

گل آن باغ جوانان باشند
غنچه اش تنگ دهانان باشند

پیرزن چون ز نبی قصه شنید
ناله از سینه پر غصه کشید

از فغان زمزمه غم برداشت
وز مژه گریه ماتم برداشت

شد نبی مژده دهش چابک و جست
که نه گر کهنه عجوزان ز نخست

یک به یک دختر دوشیزه شوند
کی در آن روضه پاکیزه شوند

اول کار جوانی بخشند
آنگه آمال و امانی بخشند

English translation

That old, aged woman asked a question Of the Prophet, 'O King of auspicious traits, On the Day of Resurrection when Paradise is adorned, And the delivered ones find rest in Paradise, Will that exalted abode of noble souls Become a dwelling of peace for old women like me?' He said, 'Far be it that such a delightful homeland Should become the resting place of an old woman. The flowers of that garden are the youth, And its buds are those with sweet, narrow mouths.' When the old woman heard this tale from the Prophet, She drew a deep sigh from her grief-filled chest. From her lamentation, she raised a murmur of sorrow, And from her eyelashes, she wept tears of mourning. The Prophet quickly and nimbly brought her glad tidings: 'Do not weep, for old crones do not enter as they are; Rather, one by one they become virgin maidens, Only then do they enter that pure garden. At the very beginning, they are granted youth, And then they are granted their hopes and desires.'
