وان دگر آن که صحبت مولا
کرد ایثار بر همه دنیا

روز و شب صحبت خدای گزید
دل ز پیوند ماسوا ببرید

کرد خالی ز ما خلق خود را
داد یکبارگی به حق خود را

دست و دل از هر آرزو بگسست
هر چه شد قید او ازو بگسست

صحبتی در گرفت تنگ بسی
که نگنجید در میانه کسی

مگر آن کس که محو خود کرده ست
ترک پیوند نیک و بد کرده ست

کرده بر خویش جیب هستی شق
بر زده سر ز جیب هستی حق

خاک بر حرف خویش پاشیده
بل کزین دفترش تراشیده

از من و ما نهاده بیرون پای
سر مویی نمانده زو بر جای

یکسر از موی هستی خود رست
موی را نیست جای و او را هست

بس که خود را ز موی سنجد کم
گنجد آنجا که مو نگنجد هم

English translation

And that other one is he who preferred the companionship of the Lord over the entire world. Day and night he chose the companionship of God, and severed his heart from any attachment to what is besides Him. He emptied himself of all creation, and surrendered himself entirely to the Truth. He detached his hand and heart from every desire, and broke free from whatever became a shackle to him. A companionship so intimate developed that no one else could fit in between them, Except for the one who has annihilated himself and abandoned the attachment to good and evil. He has torn open the collar of his own existence, and emerged from the collar of the existence of the Truth. He has sprinkled dust upon his own words, or rather, erased himself from this ledger of existence. He has stepped outside of 'I' and 'we,' leaving not a single hair's breadth of himself behind. He completely escaped from the hair of his own existence; there is no room for a hair, yet there is room for him. So much does he weigh himself as less than a hair, that he fits even where a hair cannot fit.
