The Tale of Alexander Who Went as His Own Messenger

Original content

English translation

He said: When Alexander, that accepted one, Wanted to send a messenger somewhere, When the time came, that king of the world Would dress up and go secretly himself. Then he would say what no one had heard; He would say: 'Alexander has commanded thus.' In the whole world, no one knew That this messenger there was Alexander himself. Since no one had the eyes to recognize Alexander, Even if he said, 'I am Alexander,' they would not believe him. There is a path for the king to every heart, But there is no path for the misguided heart. If outside the house the king was a stranger, Do not grieve, for inside they shared the same house.
