Section 96 - Supplication on Transitioning from Contentment to Humility

Original content

English translation

O You, in the prison of Whose grief everyone is joyful, Your bond is servitude and freedom for all. We have turned our faces toward the Qiblah of Your bounty, We are captives and servants of Your command. Our head received the crown of obedience from You, Our heart received the honor of contentment from You. Our yearning for You is beyond limit, Whatever we say, it is even greater than that. Therefore, we do not become captive to created things, Since we are not content with anything from You except You Yourself. Jami has escaped from greed and contentment, And has bound the camel-litter of obedience on Your path. Deliver his burden from the road to the destination, Bring his belongings from the waves to the shore. Cast a flame into the harvest of his illusion, Stamp a coin upon the page of his dinar. Give him a spark from the fire of love, Grant him a steady station at the door of proximity. His back of pride, which has never known defeat, Lay it low by the trampling of humility.
