ای وجود همه پیش تو عدم
چرخ را پشت تواضع ز تو خم
با همه رفعت خود عرش برین
بر درت روی مذلت به زمین
هر که خود را به رهت خوار افکند
کنگر عزت خود ساخت بلند
همه را عزت و خواری از توست
مکنت کارگزاری از توست
ما به خونخواری خواریت خوشیم
از کسان منت عزت نکشیم
عزتی کان نه ز تو خواری ماست
خواریی کز تو سبکباری ماست
جامی از عزت و خواری رسته
کمر شکرگزاری بسته
کز تواضع چو سر افراختیش
سایه بر کبر نینداختیش
نیستش چون به سر از کبر کلاه
دارش از خاصیت کبر نگاه
به کف خشم عنان مسپارش
روی در حلم و مدارا دارش
English translation
O You, before whom the existence of all is non-existence, The back of the heaven is bent in humility by You. With all its loftiness, the supreme throne Lays the face of abasement on the ground at Your door. Whoever casts himself down in abasement on Your path Has raised high the battlements of his honor. All honor and abasement are from You, And the power of agency is from You. We are content with the suffering of Your abasement, We bear no obligation of honor from others. Honor that is not from You is our abasement, And abasement that comes from You is our relief. Jami, delivered from honor and abasement, Has girded his loin in thanksgiving, Since when You exalted him through humility, You did not let his shadow fall upon pride. Since he does not have the crown of pride on his head, Keep him safe from the nature of pride. Do not deliver his reins into the hand of anger, Keep his face turned toward forbearance and tolerance.
