Section 90 - Supplication on Transitioning from Sincerity to Generosity

Original content

English translation

O You, from whose fear the hearts of lovers are split in two, The danger for the sincere on Your path is immense. Alas for the sincere one, if there arises before him The danger of seeing sincerity within himself. To see sincerity as coming from oneself is association of partners with God (shirk); The description of association is not from true comprehension. The work of the sincere is entirely deficiency and flaw, Unless his brokenness (kasr) is changed into victory (fath). The brokenness of the sincere is from him, and the victory is from You; His brokenness is made whole by Your victory. Without You, Jami is a body without a soul; Upon this body, O Soul, shower the treasure of spiritual conquests. Every structure that he has built, lay it to ruin, And like a hidden treasure, make it flourish through Yourself. Who is he to boast of sincerity, Or to step into the private sanctuary? Keep him under the shadow of Your favor, And let him benefit from Your universal grace. Do not let him be bound by greed and desire, While the pearl of generosity is not in his hand.
