دفتر ششم - بخش ۷۳ - واگشتن مرید از وثاق شیخ و پرسیدن از مردم و نشان دادن ایشان کی شیخ به فلان بیشه رفته است / Book Six - Section 73 - The Disciple Returning from the Sheikh's Dwelling, Inquiring from the People, and Their Indicating That the Sheikh Has Gone to a Certain Forest

Original content

English translation

After that, he inquired of everyone, Searching for the Sheikh abundantly in every direction. Then someone told him that the pole of the land (the great Sheikh) Had gone to gather firewood from the mountain. That disciple, with thoughts sharp as Dhu'l-Fiqar, quickly Went towards the forest in his longing for the Sheikh. The devil brought whispers to the man's mind, So that the moon might be hidden by the dust (of doubt), Saying, 'Why does this Sheikh of religion Keep such a woman as a companion and mate in his house? How can an opposite have affinity with its opposite? How can a monster be with the leader of the people?' Again, he passionately recited 'There is no power but in God,' Saying, 'My objection to him is disbelief and malice. Who am I to question the actions of the Truth (God), That my carnal soul should raise doubts and meticulous objections?' Again, his carnal soul quickly launched an attack, From this seeking of knowledge, smoke rose in his heart like burning straw, Saying, 'What relation does a demon have with Gabriel, That it should be a companion sharing his resting place? How can the Friend of God (Abraham) get along with Azar (the idol-maker)? How can a guide get along with a highway robber?'
