بانگ زد بر وی جوان و گفت بس
روز روشن از کجا آمد عسس

نور مردان مشرق و مغرب گرفت
آسمان ها سجده کردند از شگفت

آفتاب حق بر آمد از حمل
زیر چادر رفت خورشید از خجل

ترهات چون تو ابلیسی مرا
کی بگرداند ز خاک این سرا

من به بادی نامدم هم چون سحاب
تا به گردی باز گردم زین جناب

عجل با آن نور شد قبلهٔ کرم
قبله بی آن نور شد کفر و صنم

هست اباحت کز هوای آمد ضلال
هست اباحت کز خدا آمد کمال

کفر ایمان گشت و دیو اسلام یافت
آن طرف کان نور بی اندازه تافت

مظهر عزست و محبوب به حق
از همه کروبیان برده سبق

سجده آدم را بیان سبق اوست
سجده آرد مغز را پیوست پوست

شمع حق را پف کنی تو ای عجوز
هم تو سوزی هم سرت ای گنده پوز

کی شود دریا ز پوز سگ نجس
کی شود خورشید از پف منطمس

حکم بر ظاهر اگر هم می کنی
چیست ظاهرتر بگو زین روشنی

جمله ظاهرها به پیش این ظهور
باشد اندر غایت نقص و قصور

هر که بر شمع خدا آرد پف او
شمع کی میرد ؟ بسوزد پوز او

چون تو خفاشان بسی بینند خواب
کاین جهان ماند یتیم از آفتاب

موج های تیز دریاهای روح
هست صد چندان که بد طوفان نوح

لیک اندر چشم کنعان موی رست
نوح و کشتی را بهشت و کوه جست

کوه و کنعان را فرو برد آن زمان
نیم موجی تا به قعر امتهان

مه فشاند نور و سگ وع وع کند
سگ ز نور ماه کی مرتع کند ؟

شب روان و همرهان مه به تگ
ترک رفتن کی کنند از بانگ سگ

جزو سوی کل دوان مانند تیر
کی کند وقف از پی هر گنده پیر

جان شرع و جان تقوی عارف است
معرفت محصول زهد سالف است

زهد اندر کاشتن کوشیدن است
معرفت آن کشت را روییدن است

پس چو تن باشد جهاد و اعتقاد
جان این کشتن نبات است و حصاد

امر معروف او و هم معروف اوست
کاشف اسرار و هم مکشوف اوست

شاه امروزینه و فردای ماست
پوست بندهٔ مغز نغزش دایم است

چون انا الحق گفت شیخ و پیش برد
پس گلوی جمله کوران را فشرد

چون انای بنده لا شد از وجود
پس چه ماند تو بیندیش ای جحود

گر ترا چشمی ست بگشا در نگر
بعد لا آخر چه می ماند دگر

ای بریده آن لب و حلق و دهان
که کند تف سوی مه یا آسمان

تف به رویش باز گردد بی شکی
تف سوی گردون نیابد مسلکی

تا قیامت تف برو بارد ز رب
هم چو تبت بر روان بولهب

طبل و رایت هست ملک شهریار
سگ کسی که خواند او را طبل خوار

آسمان ها بندهٔ ماه وی اند
شرق و مغرب جمله نان خواه وی اند

زانک لولاک است بر توقیع او
جمله در انعام و در توزیع او

گر نبودی او نیابیدی فلک
گردش و نور و مکانی ملک

گر نبودی او نیابیدی بحار
هیبت و ماهی و در شاهوار

گر نبودی او نیابیدی زمین
در درونه گنج و بیرون یاسمین

رزقها هم رزق خواران وی اند
میوه ها لب خشک باران وی اند

هین که معکوس است در امر این گره
صدقه بخش خویش را صدقه بده

از فقیرستت همه زر و حریر
هین غنی را ده زکاتی ای فقیر

چون تو ننگی جفت آن مقبول روح
چون عیال کافر اندر عقد نوح

گر نبودی نسبت تو زین سرا
پاره پاره کردمی این دم ترا

دادمی آن نوح را از تو خلاص
تا مشرف گشتمی من در قصاص

لیک با خانهٔ شهنشاه زمن
این چنین گستاخیی ناید ز من

رو دعا کن که سگ این موطنی
ورنه اکنون کردمی من کردنی

English translation

The youth shouted at him and said, 'Enough! Where does the night-watchman come from in broad daylight? The light of the men [of God] has enveloped the East and West; The heavens have bowed down in wonder. The Sun of Truth has risen from Aries; The physical sun has hidden under a veil in shame. How can the vain words of a devil like you Turn me away from the dust of this court? I did not come by a wind like a cloud That I should turn back from this threshold by some dust. With that Light, the Calf became a qibla of generosity; Without that Light, the Qibla became disbelief and an idol. There is a permissibility that comes from desire which is error, There is a permissibility that comes from God which is perfection. Disbelief turned into faith, and the demon found Islam, In that direction where that boundless Light shone. He is the manifestation of glory and the beloved of Truth; He has surpassed all the Cherubim. The prostration to Adam is the proof of his precedence; The skin always bows to the marrow. Do you blow at the candle of Truth, O old crone? You will burn yourself and your head, O foul-mouthed one! When does the sea become impure from the muzzle of a dog? When is the sun extinguished by a puff of breath? Even if you judge by outward appearance, Tell me, what is more apparent than this brightness? All appearances, in the presence of this manifestation, Are in the utmost extreme of defect and shortcoming. Whoever brings a puff against the candle of God, When will the candle die? His muzzle will burn. Many bats like you dream That this world will be left an orphan by the sun. The sharp waves of the seas of the spirit Are a hundred times greater than Noah's flood. But a hair grew in the eye of Canaan; He abandoned Noah and the Ark and sought the mountain. At that time, half a wave swallowed The mountain and Canaan to the depths of tribulation. The moon sheds light and the dog barks; How can a dog pasture upon the light of the moon? When do the night-travelers and companions of the moon Cease their journeying because of the barking of a dog? The part running towards the whole like an arrow, When does it stop for every foul old crone? The soul of the Law and the soul of piety is the gnostic; Gnosis is the harvest of past asceticism. Asceticism is striving in sowing; Gnosis is the growing of that sown field. Therefore, when jihad and belief are the body, The soul of this cultivation is the plant and the harvest. He is the command of good and the good itself; He is the discoverer of secrets and the discovered. He is our king of today and tomorrow; The shell is forever the slave of his fine kernel. When the Shaykh said 'I am the Truth' and carried it forward, He then squeezed the throats of all the blind. When the 'I' of the servant became nothing from existence, Then what remains? Think, O denier! If you have an eye, open it and look: After 'nothing' (la), what else remains ultimately? O cut off be that lip and throat and mouth, That spits towards the moon or the sky! The spit will doubtless return to his own face; Spit finds no path towards the heavens. Until the Resurrection, spit will rain on him from the Lord, Like 'May the hands perish' (Tabbat) upon the soul of Abu Lahab. The drum and the banner belong to the King's dominion; A dog is he who calls him a drum-eater. The heavens are the slaves of his moon; The East and the West are all beggars for his bread. Because 'But for thee' (Lawlaka) is on his signet; All are in his bounty and his distribution. If it were not for him, the firmament would not have found Its rotation, and light, and the dwelling of angels. If it were not for him, the seas would not have found Majesty, and fish, and the royal pearl. If it were not for him, the earth would not have found Treasure within its core, and jasmine on its surface. Provisions too are the provision-eaters of his; Fruits have dry lips awaiting his rain. Beware, for this knot is inverted in the matter: Give charity to the one who bestows charity upon you! All your gold and silk are from the poor dervish; Come, O poor man, give alms to the rich! How can a disgrace like you be the mate of that accepted spirit? Like the infidel wife in the marriage of Noah. If you had no relation to this house, I would have torn you to pieces this very moment. I would have delivered that Noah from you, So that I might be honored in retaliation. But with the house of the King of the Age, Such insolence will not come from me. Go and pray, for you are a dog of this homeland; Otherwise, I would have done right now what I should have done.
