Section 48 - Answer

Original content

English translation

The Eternal and the temporal are not separate from each other, Since the temporal exists through Being, and in itself is perpetually non-existent. All is That, and this world is like the phoenix; Save for the Truth, all things are names without a named reality. For non-existence to become existent is impossible, For Existence, by its very nature of being, is everlasting. Neither does that become this, nor does this become that; Through this, all difficulties will become easy for you. The world itself is entirely a conceptual matter, Like that single point revolving in a circle. Go and whirl a single spark of fire, And you will see a circle because of its speed. Though the number one inevitably enters into counting, The One is not multiplied by the multiplicity of numbers. Abandon the talk of 'what is other than God,' And distinguish this from that with your own intellect. What doubt do you have that this world is like a fancy? For alongside Unity, duality is utterly impossible. Non-existence, like Being, was singular; All multiplicity arose from relations. The appearance of their diversity and multiplicity Became manifest through the chameleon of contingency. Since the existence of each individual thing is one, It bears witness to the Unity of the Truth.
