Section 11 - The Rule of Contemplation in the Horizons
Text and Translation
| Do not remain imprisoned by elements and humors; Step outside and contemplate the creations. | |
| Contemplate the creation of the heavens, So that you may be praised by God in the verses. | |
| See for once how the Great Throne Encompasses both worlds. | |
| Why did they name it the Throne of the All-Merciful? What relation does it have with the heart of man? | |
| Why are both of these constantly in motion, Resting not even for a single moment? | |
| Is it because the heart is the center of the vast Throne, For this is like a point, and that is the circumference? | |
| In a day and night, more or less, Your entire being becomes the Throne, O dervish. | |
| Because of it, the circular bodies were set in motion; Why did they turn? Look closely for once. | |
| From East to West, like a waterwheel, They spin constantly without food or sleep. | |
| Every day and night, this greatest sphere Completes a full rotation around the world. | |
| And because of it, the other spheres as well Keep turning in their orbits. | |
| But in the opposite direction of the sphere of the Atlas, These eight curved spheres revolve. | |
| The equalizer is the Chair of the Zodiac, In which there is neither variance nor cleft. | |
| Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer Hang upon it, like Leo and Virgo. | |
| Then Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius; There are signs of Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. | |
| The fixed stars are one thousand and twenty-four, Which have their place upon the Chair. | |
| In the seventh sphere, Saturn is the sentinel; The sixth is the place and position of Jupiter. | |
| The fifth heaven is the place of Mars; In the fourth is the world-adorning Sun. | |
| The third Venus, the second the place of Mercury; The Moon has entered the lowest heaven. | |
| Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius, and Jupiter Begins and ends with Sagittarius and Pisces. | |
| Aries with Scorpio became the abode of Mars; Leo became the resting place of the Sun. | |
| As Venus made Taurus and Libra her home, Mercury went into Gemini and Virgo. | |
| The Moon found Cancer to be of its own nature; As the descending node met the ascending node, it selected an eclipse node. | |
| The Moon has twenty-eight mansions, Where it then comes to stand opposite the Sun. | |
| Thereafter it becomes like a withered palm-branch, By the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. | |
| If through reflection you become a perfect man, Assuredly you will say: 'It is not in vain.' | |
| The Word of God declares this very truth: That seeing creation as in vain comes from the conjecture of those who disbelieve. | |
| The existence of a gnat has wisdom, O raw one; Can there be no wisdom in the existence of Mercury and Mars? | |
| But when you look into the origin of this affair, You will see the sphere subject to the command of the Compeller. | |
| Since the astrologer has no share of faith, He attributes the influence to strange celestial configurations. | |
| He does not see that this green sphere Has been subjugated by the decree and command of God. | |
