ز تو هر فعل که اول گشت صادر
بدان گردی به باری چند قادر

به هر باری اگر نفع است اگر ضر
شود در نفس تو چیزی مدخر

به عادت حالها با خوی گردد
به مدت میوه ها خوش بوی گردد

از آن آموخت انسان پیشه ها را
وز آن ترکیب کرد اندیشه ها را

همه افعال و اقوال مدخر
هویدا گردد اندر روز محشر

چو عریان گردی از پیراهن تن
شود عیب و هنر یکباره روشن

تنت باشد ولیکن بی کدورت
که بنماید از او چون آب، صورت

همه پیدا شود آنجا ضمائر
فرو خوان آیت «تبۡلى ٱلسرآئر»

دگر باره به وفق عالم خاص
شود اخلاق تو اجسام اشخاص

چنان کز قوت عنصر در اینجا
موالید سه گانه گشت پیدا

همه اخلاق تو در عالم جان
گهی انوار گردد گاه نیران

تعین مرتفع گردد ز هستی
نماند در نظر بالا و پستی

نماند مرگ تن در دار حیوان
به یک رنگی برآید قالب و جان

بود پا و سر و چشم تو چون دل
شود صافی ز ظلمت، صورت گل

کند انوار حق بر تو تجلی
ببینی بی جهت حق را تعالی

دو عالم را همه بر هم زنی تو
ندانم تا چه مستی ها کنی تو

«وسقىٰهمۡ ربهمۡ» چبود بیندیش
«طهورا» چیست صافی گشتن از خویش

زهی شربت، زهی لذت، زهی ذوق
زهی حیرت، زهی دولت، زهی شوق

خوشا آن دم که ما بی خویش باشیم
غنی مطلق و درویش باشیم

نه دین، نه عقل، نه تقوی، نه ادراک
فتاده مست و حیران بر سر خاک

بهشت و حور و خلد آنجا چه سنجد
که بیگانه در آن خلوت نگنجد

چو رویت دیدم و خوردم از آن می
ندانم تا چه خواهد شد پس از وی

پی هر مستیی باشد، خماری
از این اندیشه دل خون گشت، باری

English translation

Every action that is first issued from you, by it you become capable after a few attempts. At each instance, whether it is beneficial or harmful, something becomes stored in your soul. By habit, transient states become fixed traits, in time, fruits become sweet-scented. From this, humans learned crafts, and from it, they composed their thoughts. All accumulated actions and words will become manifest on the Day of Resurrection. When you are stripped of the garment of the body, fault and virtue will suddenly become completely clear. Your body will remain, but without opacity, so that the form appears through it like water. All secrets of the heart will be revealed there; recite the verse: 'On the day when secrets are laid bare.' Once again, in accordance with that special world, your moral traits will become physical bodies and persons. Just as from the power of the elements here, the three kingdoms of nature came into being, All your moral traits in the world of the soul will at times become lights, and at times fires. Particularization will be lifted from existence, neither high nor low will remain in view. The death of the body will not remain in the abode of life; form and soul will emerge as one color. Your foot, head, and eye will be like the heart; the form of clay will become purified from darkness. The lights of the Truth will manifest upon you; you will behold the Truth, Exalted is He, without direction. You will turn both worlds upside down; I know not what raptures you will experience! Ponder what 'and their Lord will give them to drink' means; what is 'a pure drink'? It is to become purified from selfhood. What a drink! What a pleasure! What a delight! What a wonder! What a fortune! What a yearning! How sweet is that moment when we are selfless, absolutely rich, yet poor. Neither religion, nor intellect, nor piety, nor perception; lying drunk and bewildered upon the dust. What value do Heaven, houris, and eternity hold there? For no stranger can find room in that sanctuary. Since I beheld Your face and drank of that wine, I know not what will happen after it. After every drunkenness comes a hangover; indeed, from this thought, the heart has turned to blood.
