اگر خورشید بر یک حال بودی
شعاع او به یک منوال بودی

ندانستی کسی کین پرتو اوست
نبودی هیچ فرق از مغز تا پوست

جهان جمله فروغ نور حق دان
حق اندر وی ز پیدایی است پنهان

چو نور حق ندارد نقل و تحویل
نیابد ذات او تغییر و تبدیل

تو پنداری جهان خود هست دائم
به ذات خویشتن پیوسته قائم

کسی کاو عقل دوراندیش دارد
بسی سرگشتگی در پیش دارد

ز دوراندیشی عقل فضولی
یکی شد فلسفی، دیگر حلولی

خرد را نیست تاب نور آن روی
برو از بهر او چشمی دگر جوی

دو چشم فلسفی چون بود احول
ز وحدت دیدن حق شد معطل

ز نابینایی آمد رای تشبیه
ز یک چشمی است ادراکات تنزیه

تناسخ زان جهت شد کفر و باطل
که آن از تنگ چشمی گشت حاصل

چو اکمه بی نصیب از هر کمال است
کسی کاو را طریق اعتزال است

رمد دارد دو چشم اهل ظاهر
که از ظاهر نبیند جز مظاهر

کلامی کاو ندارد ذوق توحید
به تاریکی در است از غیم تقلید

در او هرچ آن بگفتند از کم و بیش
نشانی داده اند از دیدهٔ خویش

منزه ذاتش از چند و چه و چون
«تعالیٰ» شانه «عما یقولون»

English translation

If the sun were always in one state, And its rays were of one constant manner, No one would know that this is its ray, There would be no difference between the core and the skin. Know that the entire world is the radiance of God's light, God is hidden within it by His very manifestation. Since the light of God has no transfer or transformation, His essence finds no change or alteration. You think the world is eternal in itself, And is constantly self-sustaining by its own essence. He who possesses a far-seeing intellect, Has much bewilderment before him. From the far-seeing of a meddlesome intellect, One became a philosopher, another an incarnationist. Reason has not the strength to endure the light of that Face, Go, seek another eye for His sake. Because the two eyes of the philosopher were cross-eyed, He was hindered from seeing the unity of God. From blindness came the opinion of anthropomorphism, From being one-eyed come the perceptions of transcendence. Reincarnation became infidelity and falsehood for the reason That it resulted from narrowness of vision. Like one born blind, deprived of all perfection, Is he whose path is that of the Mu'tazilites. The two eyes of the people of outward appearance have ophthalmia, For from the outward, they see nothing but the manifestations. The theologian who has no taste for Divine Unity, Is in darkness from the cloud of imitation. Whatever they have said about it, more or less, They have given an indication from their own vision. His Essence is free from how much, what, and how, 'Exalted is His state above what they say.'
