بخش ۶۰ - اشارت به زنار / Section 60 - Indication of the Girdle

نظر کردم بدیدم اصل هر کار
نشان خدمت آمد عقد زنار

نباشد اهل دانش را مؤول
ز هر چیزی مگر بر وضع اول

میان در بند چون مردان به مردی
درآ در زمرهٔ «اوفوا بعهدی»

به رخش علم و چوگان عبادت
اگر چه خلق بسیار آفریدند

ز میدان در ربا گوی سعادت
تو را از بهر این کار آفریدند

پدر چون علم و مادر هست اعمال
به سان قرةالعین است احوال

نباشد بی پدر انسان شکی نیست
مسیح اندر جهان بیش از یکی نیست

رها کن ترهات و شطح و طامات
خیال خلوت و نور کرامات

کرامات تو اندر حق پرستی است
جز این کبر و ریا و عجب و هستی است

در این هر چیز کان نز باب فقر است
همه اسباب استدراج و مکر است

ز ابلیس لعین بی سعادت
شود صادر هزاران خرق عادت

گه از دیوارت آید گاهی از بام
گهی در دل نشیند گه در اندام

همی داند ز تو احوال پنهان
در آرد در تو کفر و فسق و عصیان

شد ابلیست امام و در پسی تو
بدو لیکن بدین ها کی رسی تو

کرامات تو گر در خودنمایی است
تو فرعونی و این دعوی خدایی است

کسی کو راست با حق آشنایی
نیاید هرگز از وی خودنمایی

همه روی تو در خلق است زنهار
مکن خود را بدین علت گرفتار

چو با عامه نشینی مسخ گردی
چه جای مسخ یک سر نسخ گردی

مبادا هیچ با عامت سر و کار
که از فطرت شوی ناگه نگونسار

تلف کردی به هرزه نازنین عمر
نگویی در چه کاری با چنین عمر

به جمعیت لقب کردند تشویش
خری را پیشوا کردی زهی ریش

فتاده سروری اکنون به جهال
از این گشتند مردم جمله بدحال

نگر دجال اعور تا چگونه
فرستاده است در عالم نمونه

نمونه باز بین ای مرد حساس
خر او را که نامش هست جساس

خران را بین همه در تنگ آن خر
شده از جهل پیش آهنگ آن خر

چو خواجه قصهٔ آخر زمان کرد
به چندین جا از این معنی نشان کرد

ببین اکنون که کور و کر شبان شد
علوم دین همه بر آسمان شد

نماند اندر میانه رفق و آزرم
نمی دارد کسی از جاهلی شرم

همه احوال عالم باژگون است
اگر تو عاقلی بنگر که چون است

کسی کارباب لعن و طرد و مقت است
پدر نیکو بد، اکنون شیخ وقت است

خضر می کشت آن فرزند طالح
که او را بد پدر با جد صالح

کنون با شیخ خود کردی تو ای خر
خری را کز خری هست از تو خرتر

چو او «یعرف الهر من البر»
چگونه پاک گرداند تو را سر

و گر دارد نشان باب خود پور
چه گویم چون بود «نور علی نور»

پسر کو نیک رای و نیک بخت است
چو میوه زبده و سر درخت است

ولیکن شیخ دین کی گردد آن کو
نداند نیک از بد بد ز نیکو

مریدی علم دین آموختن بود
چراغ دل ز نور افروختن بود

کسی از مرده علم آموخت هرگز
ز خاکستر چراغ افروخت هرگز

مرا در دل همی آید کز این کار
ببندم بر میان خویش زنار

نه زان معنی که من شهرت ندارم
که دارم لیک از وی هست عارم

شریکم چون خسیس آمد در این کار
خمولم بهتر از شهرت به بسیار

دگرباره رسیدالهامم از حق
که بر حکمت مگیر از ابلهی دق

اگر کناس نبود در ممالک
همه خلق اوفتند اندر مهالک

بود جنسیت آخر علت ضم
چنین آمد جهان والله اعلم

ولیک از صحبت نااهل بگریز
عبادت خواهی از عادت بپرهیز

نگردد جمع با عادت عبادت
عبادت می کنی بگذر ز عادت

English translation

I looked and saw the origin of every deed, The tying of the girdle became a sign of service. Those of knowledge do not interpret Anything except according to its primary state. Gird up your loins like brave men, Enter the ranks of 'fulfill My covenant.' With the steed of knowledge and the polo-mallet of worship, Snatch the ball of happiness from the field. Although many creatures were created, They created you for this work. Since knowledge is the father and actions are the mother, Spiritual states are like the apple of the eye. Undoubtedly, a human cannot be without a father; There is no more than one Messiah in the world. Abandon vain talk, ecstatic utterances, and wild claims, The fantasy of seclusion and the light of miracles. Your miracle lies in worshipping the Truth; Anything else is pride, hypocrisy, conceit, and ego. In this, whatever is not from the gate of spiritual poverty Is all a means of gradual descent and deception. From the cursed, luckless Iblis, Thousands of supernatural feats are performed. Sometimes he comes to you from the wall, sometimes from the roof; Sometimes he sits in the heart, sometimes in the body. He knows your hidden states, And brings disbelief, transgression, and disobedience into you. Iblis has become your leader and you are behind him; But how can you equal him in these feats? If your miracles lie in self-display, You are a Pharaoh, and this is a claim to divinity. One who has a true acquaintance with the Truth Never exhibits self-display. All your attention is on the creation, beware! Do not entrap yourself in this affliction. If you sit with the common folk, you will be transformed; Nay, not just transformed, you will be entirely abolished. Never have any dealings with the common folk, Lest you suddenly fall headlong from your original nature. You have wasted your precious life in vanity; Will you not say what you are doing with such a life? They labeled anxiety and distraction as 'gathering'; You made a donkey your leader, what a shame! Leadership has now fallen to the ignorant; Because of this, the people have all become wretched. Look at the one-eyed Dajjal, how He has sent a prototype into the world. Look at the prototype, O sensitive man: His donkey, whose name is Jassasah. See all the donkeys close behind that donkey, Who, out of ignorance, has become the leader of that donkey. When the Master spoke of the end of times, He indicated this meaning in several places. Look now that the blind and deaf have become shepherds, The sciences of religion have all ascended to heaven. No kindness or modesty remains among us; No one is ashamed of ignorance. All the affairs of the world are upside down; If you are wise, look at how it is. One who deserves cursing, expulsion, and wrath, Whose father was good, is now the Sheikh of the time. Khidr slew that wicked son, Who had a good father and a righteous grandfather. Now you have made a donkey your Sheikh, O donkey! A donkey who, in donkey-ness, is more of a donkey than you. Since he does not know 'a cat from a mouse' (al-hirr min al-birr), How can he purify your head? And if the son has the mark of his father, What can I say? It is 'light upon light.' A son who is well-meaning and fortunate Is like the choice fruit at the top of the tree. But how can he become a Sheikh of religion, he who Does not know good from bad or bad from good? Discipleship was to learn the science of religion, To light the lamp of the heart with light. Did anyone ever learn knowledge from the dead? Did anyone ever light a lamp from ashes? It comes to my heart that from this state of affairs, I should tie the Christian girdle (zunnar) around my waist. Not because I lack fame, For I have it, but I am ashamed of it. Since my partner in this business has become mean, My obscurity is far better than fame. Once again, inspiration came to me from the Truth: 'Do not take offense at wisdom due to a fool's folly. If there were no scavengers in the lands, All people would fall into destruction.' After all, homogeneity is the cause of combination; Thus came the world, and God knows best. But flee from the company of the unworthy; If you desire worship, abstain from habit. Worship and habit do not go together; If you worship, pass beyond habit.
