Section 42 - A Story and Allegory on the Pleasure of the World with the Hardship of the Hereafter

Original content

English translation

Have you not heard what, upon a road, That effeminate one said to a clever man, Who was going to untie a knot, For the lady, towards the ascetic of the village, So that the fruit would become loose on her branch, And the path of giving birth would become wide for her? When the effeminate one saw the servant, He asked him, and he told him. He said, "Leave the nonsense of the base; Go and convey my greetings to the lady. Then tell the lady that, out of pain, With such an anus one cannot eat myrobalan (a purgative). Since you tasted the sweetness of copulation, Endure now the hardship of giving birth. Did you not know that taking the phallus, Brings neither shame nor fame beneath? If a dog were swift and fat, It would not roam the village without prey. People are heedless of their own nature; People do not render themselves justice at all."
