خر بود خادمی ولی کاهل
که به کار اندرون بود منبل

اسب زن باشد ای به دانش فرد
مرد را اسب و زن بود در خورد

استر آنرا که زن بود حامل
بد بود بچه نایدش حاصل

شتر آید ترا سفر در خواب
سفری سهمناک پر غم و تاب

گاو باشد دلیل سال فراخ
به بر پادشا شود گستاخ

گو سپندت بود غنیمت و مال
اقتضا زان کند فراخی سال

بز کسی کو دنی و بد گوهر
پر خروش و به کار در سر شر

English translation

A donkey represents a servant, but a lazy one, Who is sluggish in his work. A horse represents a wife, O one unique in knowledge; A horse and a wife are fitting for a man. A mule is for someone whose wife is pregnant; It is bad, as no child will be obtained by him. A camel appears to you as a journey in a dream; A dreadful journey, full of grief and anxiety. A cow is an indication of a year of abundance; It becomes bold in the presence of the king. A sheep represents spoils and wealth; From which the abundance of the year follows. A goat represents someone who is base and of evil nature; Clamorous and mischievous in their work.
