مرد طباخ نعمت بسیار
همچو قصاب در تباهی کار

رنج و بیماریست مرد طبیب
خاصه آنرا که هست خوار و غریب

درزی آنکس که رنجها و بلا
همه بر دست او شود زیبا

مرد خفاف و نعلی و خراز
از مواریث آنکه داند راز

مرد بزاز و زرگر و عطار
خوبی کار و نعمت بسیار

مرد خمار و مطرب و رادی
مایهٔ شادمانی و شادی

مرد بیطار و رائض و کحال
چون دلیل اند بر تباهی حال

هست در خواب دیدن صیاد
مایهٔ مکر و حیله بر مرصاد

مرد شمشیرگر دلیل عناست
همچو آن تیرگر که تیرآراست

مرد سقا و گلگر و حمال
هر سه آنرا دلیل دان بر مال

English translation

The cook [signifies] abundant blessings, Just like the butcher in the ruin of affairs. The physician signifies pain and illness, Especially for one who is abased and a stranger. The tailor is one by whose hand All sufferings and trials become beautiful. The shoemaker, the farrier, and the cobbler [Indicate] inheritances for one who knows the secret. The draper, the goldsmith, and the druggist [Signify] goodness of work and abundant blessings. The vintner, the musician, and the generous man Are the source of joy and happiness. The veterinarian, the horse trainer, and the oculist Are indicators of the ruin of one's condition. Seeing a hunter in a dream Is a source of deception and trickery lying in wait. The swordsmith is a sign of distress, Just like the fletcher who fashions arrows. The water-carrier, the clay-worker, and the porter— Deem all three as indicators of wealth.
