English translation
As long as people are in the world of means, They are all in a ship and in sleep. Until their soul sees in sleep What comes before it of reward and punishment. Fierce-burning fire is anger; A spring of water is the light of the eye. Playing backgammon or chess in a dream Is a cause of war, dominance, and suffering. Water in a dream is lawful sustenance, If it is pure, sweet, clear, and limpid. And if it be dark, consider it an unpleasant life; Though it is water, consider it the essence of fire. Dust in a dream is the source of sustenance; For the farmer, it is evidence of prosperity. Wind, whether it be hot or cold, Both are treasurers of hardship and pain. If the wind is moderate on the skin, It is the sorrow of the enemy and the joy of the friend. Giving something to a dead person in a dream Signifies the loss of wealth and means. Weeping in a dream is the source of joy; Servitude is freedom from humiliation. Laughter is sorrow and terrors; Silence is the binding of the heart to wealth. A desire for water greater than thirst Is knowledge, of which there is no satiation. And he who is naked in a dream Becomes disgraced like a ruined drunkard. A drum in a dream means a secret becomes revealed; A trumpet in a dream is the source of contention. Fetters and chains are sincere repentance; Seeing a garden is nourishment for the soul. Fruit in a dream is sustenance from the king, But not at just any time, rather in its season. When the time of perception arrives, The seeing man attains delight from it. When a man sees his hand lengthened, He becomes singular in generosity and chivalry. And if his hands be short, He draws an army of stinginess around himself. The hand represents brother and sister; The left is the daughter and the right is the son. Fingers are like children; The relation of mother and father is the teeth. The chest and breasts are daughters; Like the stomach, they are hidden wealth and blessings. The liver and heart in a dream are treasure; The leg and knee are toil and suffering. Marrow is hidden wealth, and the side is a woman; The skin is like a veil drawn over the body. The reproductive organ is the child— Good or bad, ugly or pleasant, wretched or fortunate. Washing hands of work is despair; Dancing is impudence and deception. The loincloth, bucket, and washing implements All point toward servants. And he who plays the lute in a dream, He will surely take a wife in haste. Wrestling with another person Is overcoming and causing distress. And he who takes medicine in a dream Becomes delivered from suffering, pain, and torment. Perfume is of two kinds in a dream: One is comfort, the other is all distress. Comfort for the kind they rub on; Affliction for the kind they burn. For from smoke there is more suffering; Its comfort is less than its harm. A sick man, perfume, and new clothes— This is bad, bad; hear it well from me. Dancing in a dream on a ship Is fear of drowning and the source of vileness. And he who was bound in prison and fetters, Dancing for him is auspicious. Whoever sees blood flowing from the body, It is a blessing beyond reckoning. When he sees no wound, it is this; But if there be a wound, it is otherwise. He will find a difficult sorrow from an affair, Or be bound by the hand of a bloodthirsty one. And that woman from whose vulva blood comes, A dead child will come out of her. If a sick person sees meat in a dream and eats it, Quickly give up hope for him. Drunkenness, selflessness, and drinking wine— That which is Arabic is bad in a dream. And that which is Persian, consider it sustenance, Honor, and prosperity. Milk in a dream is treasure and wealth; It is a good and lawful face.
