جامهٔ کهنه رنج و اندوه است
جامهٔ نو ز دولت انبوه است
بهترین جامه ای بود هنگفت
مر مرا اوستاد چونین گفت
مر زنان راست جامهٔ رنگین
اصل شادی و راحت و تزیین
جامهٔ سرخ مایهٔ شادیست
سال و مه بخت از او به آزادیست
جامهٔ هیبت است رنگ سیاه
ور بود زرد درد و محنت و آه
جامه های کبود اندوهست
رنج بر دل فزونتر از کوهست
طیلسان و ردا کمال بود
کیسه و صره اصل مال بود
نردبان اصل و مایهٔ سفرست
لیک زان مرد را همه خطرست
آسیا مردم امین باشد
آنکه در خانه به گزین باشد
دام باشد به خواب بستن کار
آینه زن بود نکو هش دار
بستگی آیدت ز قفل پدید
چون گشایش که آیدت ز کلید
English translation
An old garment is suffering and grief, New clothing is from abundant fortune. The best garment is one that is thick; My master spoke to me thus. For women, a colorful garment is proper, The source of joy, comfort, and adornment. A red garment is the source of happiness; Year and month, fortune is free because of it. The color black is the garment of awe; And if it is yellow, it is pain, misery, and a sigh. Blue garments are sorrow; Suffering on the heart heavier than a mountain. The taylasan and the cloak are perfection; The pouch and the purse are the source of wealth. A ladder is the source and substance of travel; Yet from it, for man, there is all danger. A mill is a trustworthy person, One who is chosen best in the house. A snare in a dream is the binding of affairs; A mirror is a woman, pay close attention. Obstruction comes to you from a lock, Just as opening comes to you from a key.
