Section 29 - He Speaks on Not Following the Lower Soul and Desires

Original content

English translation

O you who, all year round, with the substance of the demon, Have been a nurse to the demon for the sake of your base nature.

God has made you a master of intellect, Yet you have made yourself a slave to the beast.

He by whom the Universal Intellect is bewildered, What can the image of the lower soul and the substance of the demon do to Him?

Intellect does not mingle with beast and demon, For intellect flees from beast and demon.

Go, empty the house of the traitor, Close the door and be safe from the thief.

The demon flees from the closed door, Intellect itself does not mingle with the brute.

Your sensory soul has five doors, The rational spirit has but one passage.

A house with five doors belongs to the hypocrite, A house with one door belongs to the sincere one.

The five senses are your snare for five days, Intellect and soul are your servants for eternity.
