Section 18 - In Condemnation of the Lover of Wealth

Original content

English translation

When the base person calls a guest to his table, Breaking his bread is like breaking his teeth. At the door of the workshop of a miserly nature, Not for safety, but out of fear, Even if the chain does not accept the ring, Knock on the door of the base one, for he will die of it. Since he has taken away your obedience, heart, and religion, Your bitter wine and your sweet life; With a street full of thieves and a house full of goods, How pleasing opium would be to the watchman! The greed of the people and the dervish cloak are your baseness, The boat on the sea of hypocrisy is your existence.
