Section 64 - On Contemplation and Self-Observation in the States of Sufism

Original content

English translation

Strengthen the hand of religion with knowledge and justice; Why do you run around like a dog with burnt feet? I say this to you, O Lahori, Because you are far from the beauty of the divine sanctuary. But the one who purifies his breast, The Kaaba itself circumambulates his threshold. You are not like garlic inside a single skin; Your leaves, like an onion, are folded layer upon layer. Your Joseph is still in the well; It is not yet his time for the crown and throne. Without seeing the sun, how can he become a moon? Without being a servant, how can he become a king? Become a servant and be humble for a moment, So that you may know how it is to be a king. Your good and bad stem from fear and hope; Your night and day depend on the earth and the sun. You are not yet such that, due to your color, Religion and intellect would not feel disgraced by you. Whatever brings pain to the heart at the beginning Will ultimately bring comfort, honor, and treasure. How long this impurity, boasting, and vanity? Adam is ashamed of you as his descendant. You resemble Adam in physical form, Otherwise, you are not a child of the path of Truth. Your physical creation is indeed that of Adam, But the true meaning of humanity in you is obscure. The mother who gives birth to a Rostam Must suffer intense labor pains at the moment of birth. A cat may dominate a lion cub, But the lion will tear it to pieces once it grows into a lion. Though at that moment it fled from the cat, The lion can sneeze out a cat after that. Do not expect righteousness from mice, For only that which is not corrupt can attain salvation.
