گوشه ای گیر از این جهان مجاز
توشهٔ آن جهان درو می ساز

نه ترا با کسی بود پیوند
تا تو گوئی بدرد و آنکس خند

دولت دین چو روی بنماید
پشت بر کاینات فرماید

دیده چون کحل آشنایی یافت
دل تاریک روشنایی یافت

گرد دریا و رود جیحون گرد
ماهی از تابه صید نکند مرد

این دو روزه حیات نزد خرد
چه خوش و ناخوش و چه نیک و چه بد

زین دو روزه حیات و پیوندی
به خدای ار تو هیچ بربندی

باش تا چنگ مرگ دریا زد
نای حلقت ز نان بپردازد

زانکه در عالم فریب و هوس
کس نکرد اعتماد بر دو نفس

طبع بربود شه قوی نبود
تخت بر آب مستوی نبود

نبود زیر عرش دانا را
استوی عرشه علی الما را

باش تا عقل افکند فرشت
حل کند استوی علی العرشت

باش تا صبح صلح روی دهد
شاه شامان درای کوی زند

پس در این چند روزه پیوندی
کنج محراب و گنج خرسندی

دیدهٔ عقل دار در احمد
تا ز راه لحد رسی با حد

احد اندر لحد چو جایت ساخت
سر فردوسیان سرایت ساخت

روضه ای گشت بر تو کنج لحد
فرش روضه ز گنج فضل احد

چون به محراب حق شتابی تو
نور حق در دو دیده یابی تو

بده از خون دیده در محراب
از درون طوبی یقین را آب

تا به هر جا که شاخ او برسد
میوه های فراخ او برسد

English translation

Take a corner in this metaphorical world, Prepare your provisions for that world within it. May you have no attachment to anyone, Lest you speak in pain and they laugh. When the fortune of faith reveals its face, It turns its back upon all creation. When the eye receives the kohl of intimacy, The dark heart finds illumination. Wander around the sea and the Oxus River; A true man does not hunt for fish in a frying pan. This two-day life, in the view of intellect, Whether pleasant or unpleasant, good or bad, From this two-day life and its attachments, By God, if you bind yourself to anything, Wait until the hand of death reaches out, And empties the pipe of your throat from bread. For in this world of deception and desire, No one has ever relied upon two breaths. Nature seized, the king was not strong; The throne was not stable upon water. For the wise man under the Divine Throne, The establishing of his throne is upon the water. Wait until intellect spreads out your carpet, And resolves 'He established Himself upon the Throne.' Wait until the morning of peace dawns, And the King of kings beats the drum in the street. Therefore, during these few days of attachment, Seek the corner of the altar and the treasure of contentment. Keep the eye of intellect on Ahmad, So that through the path of the grave you reach the Boundless One. When the One makes your place in the grave, He makes your abode the head of the dwellers of Paradise. The corner of the grave becomes a garden for you, The carpet of that garden from the treasure of the grace of the One. When you hasten to the altar of Truth, You shall find the light of Truth in both eyes. Water with the blood of your eyes in the altar, From within, the Tuba tree of certainty, So that wherever its branch reaches, Its abundant fruits may also reach.
