تو به قوت خلیفه ای به گهر
قوت خویش را به فعل آور

آدمی را میان عقل و هوا
اختیارست شرح کرمنا

آدمی را مدار خوار که غیب
جوهری شد میان رشتهٔ عیب

از عبیدان ورای پرده چرا
اختیار اختیار کرده ترا

تا تو از راه خشم و قلاشی
یا ددی یا بهیمه ای باشی

English translation

You are a caliph in potentiality and in essence, Bring your potentiality into actuality. For man, between intellect and passion, There is free will, which is the explanation of 'We have honored.' Do not hold man in contempt, for the Unseen Has become a jewel threaded among defects. Of all the servants behind the veil, why Has Choice itself chosen you? Lest, through the path of anger and profligacy, You become either a beast of prey or a brute animal.
